Flu Vaccination Programme 2017/18

Eleanor Cross Healthcare is running a series of Saturday Flu Clinics, starting on 30 September between 8am and 11am for eligible ADULT patients. All eligible patients will receive a SMS text or letter inviting them to book an appointment. We will be inviting children to attend clinics from 14 October.

In 2017/18, the following are eligible for flu vaccination:

  • All children aged two to three on 31 August 2017 (born between 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2015)
  • Children in reception class and school years 1, 2, 3 and 4 (vaccinated in school)
  • Those aged six months to under 65 years in clinical risk groups
  • Pregnant women
  • Those aged 65 years and over
  • Those in long-stay residential care homes
  • Carers (in receipt of Carers Allowance)
  • Morbidly Obese patients (with a BMI ≥ 40)

We are also able to offer vaccinations during appointments and we will run some booked clinics during the week for eligible patients.

We encourage our patients to have their vaccinations administered in surgery for the following reasons:

  • We are providing the quadrivalent vaccine, which provides the highest level of protection as recommended by Public Health England
  • Your vaccination will be carried out by a fully trained nurse or health care assistant with a lifetime of experience
  • Your vaccination will be recorded in your medical record immediately, minimising the risk of receiving a second injection
  • We are aware of patients with certain allergies who are unable to receive the standard vaccination
  • We are able to vaccinate patients on warfarin medication
  • We are able to offer a chaperone if required
  • All our staff have DBS clearance to deal with vulnerable adults and children
  • We have anaphylactic equipment available in the event of an emergency
  • You would be doing your bit to support NHS primary care services
